Introduction to IK Crashworthiness Levels

IK protection level test is to prove that the product shell in the event of collision, will not produce damage to the internal product, this standard only provides for the intended use in any other aspects of the corresponding product standard requirements of the shell, and from the point of view of the materials and processes, under normal conditions of use, the shell should ensure that the indicated level of protection. Tests to be carried out to confirm whether the enclosure meets the requirements of this standard.
GB/T20138 and IEC62262 (stipulates how to install the test object when doing the IK protection level test, ventilation requirements, the number and distribution of impact hammers and the corresponding impact hammers for each level), IEC60598 (GB7000) and IEC60068-2-75 (GB2423.55) standards under the application of the IK test on lighting products. These related standards are mainly to standardize the lighting products in doing the IK protection level test related test steps and the use of methods to detect whether the product is qualified requirements.
In GB/T20138-2006 and IEC62262:2002 protection level code, IK code indicates the protection level of the enclosure against external harmful mechanical collision, the combination of characteristic numbers: 01 to 10, namely: IK01, IK02, IK03, IK04, IK05, IK06, IK07, IK08, IK09 and IK10. 10 levels of test levels according to the different levels of test level. grades are categorized into two groups of tests according to the different grade test levels: the first group is the spring impact hammer test from IK01, IK02 to IK06, which has a smaller energy (from 0.14J to 1J); and the other group is the sledgehammer test from IK07, IK08 to IK10, which has a larger energy (ranging from 2J to 20J).
In GB/T20138-2023 and IEC 62262:2021, which will be implemented on March 1, 2024, the IK code has been increased to IK11 level, and the collision energy of IK11 level is 50 J. CKI Reliability Laboratory can provide 11 levels of tests from IK01 to IK11.
