Battery instruction certification

On December 10, 2013, the European Union announced the battery revision directive 2013/56/EU in its official gazette, canceling the cadmium exemption for wireless power tool batteries and prohibiting the button batteries from containing mercury.
The European Union's 2006 Battery Directive (2006/66/EC) requires all member states to ban all batteries and accumulators containing more than 0.0005% by weight of mercury (whether or not used with equipment) and cadmium content exceeding 0.002. % (% by weight) of portable batteries and accumulators (including those used in conjunction with the equipment) are placed on the market. The directive exempts button cells containing no more than 2% by weight of mercury, and the directive also exempts cadmium in emergency systems/alarm systems, medical equipment, portable batteries used in cordless power tools, and batteries. . The Directive also requires the European Commission to conduct regular surveys of exemptions to meet the latest technological requirements.

The 2013/56/EU Directive issued this regulation stipulates that the cadmium exemption in the battery of the wireless power tool can continue to be used until December 31, 2016, and the button battery containing no more than 2% (by weight) of mercury can continue to be used. Until October 1, 2015. For button batteries for hearing aids, the European Commission should review its exemptions and submit reports to the European Parliament and Council by October 1, 2014. If it is proved that the button battery for hearing aids meets the requirements of this Directive and there is no clear evidence to support it, the date of exemption may be delayed in the future. For batteries that do not meet the requirements of this Directive but have been placed on the market before the effective date of this Directive, they can continue to be sold in the market until the stock is completed.
This regulation will take effect on the 20th following the publication in the official gazette, which is December 30, 2013.
The pool contains lead, cadmium, mercury, acid, alkali and other pollutants. When it is disposed of in the environment, it will cause serious damage to the ecological environment and human health. Therefore, the limitation of harmful substances in the battery, the recycling and recycling of used batteries have attracted wide attention from all walks of life.
     Related regulations and our services:
The European Union's battery and battery-related directives 2006/66/EC stipulate battery manufacturer's responsibility, recycling details, recovery rates, battery marking patterns and restrictions on lead, cadmium, mercury content requirements and related exemptions. .
The restricted substance requirements are as follows:
     1. It is forbidden to sell batteries and batteries with a mercury content exceeding 0.0005% and a cadmium content exceeding 0.002%.
     2. Button batteries containing less than 2% mercury can be exempted.
     3. The requirement that the cadmium content of the battery does not exceed 0.002% is not applicable to emergency lights and alarm systems.
     Limit requirements for hazardous substances:
     1. It is forbidden to produce and sell batteries or accumulators with a mercury content exceeding 0.0005% by weight (exempt product: the mercury content of the button battery shall not exceed 2% of the weight);
     2. It is forbidden to produce and sell portable batteries or batteries with cadmium content exceeding 0.002% by weight (exempt products: wireless power tools, medical equipment, emergency lighting equipment, emergency and alarm systems).
     Battery label requirements:
     1. All batteries, accumulators and button batteries should be marked with a crossed wheeled bin.
     2. If the mercury (Hg) content in the battery exceeds 0.0005% (5ppm), or the cadmium (Cd) content exceeds 0.002% (20ppm), or the lead (Pb) content exceeds 0.004% (40ppm), the forked wheeled garbage The chemical symbol of the metal above the limit shall be added under the box mark, and the chemical symbol shall occupy at least one quarter of the area of the crossed wheeled bin.
     Remarks:
     1. The labeling limits for mercury and cadmium are the same as the regulatory limits. Therefore, the Hg symbol is actually only applicable to button batteries. The Cd symbol is only applicable to batteries and batteries that are exempt, and other types of batteries and batteries with mercury and/or cadmium content exceeding the limit are prohibited from being produced and sold.
      2. According to the new cadmium limit, nickel-cadmium batteries can no longer be used (except for exempt products), so only nickel-hydrogen (NiMH) batteries or lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries can be used instead.
      3. Consumers should also be informed of the potential impact of these substances, the correct disposal method, the details of the recycling and recycling program, and the meaning of the symbols.
