On November 2, 2017, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officially announced that the DoC & VoC program was officially changed to SDoC to simplify the certification process for wireless devices and to clarify the use of electronic tags.
1. What is SDoC?
SDoC, Supplier's Declaration of Conformity, the equipment supplier (Note: the supplier must be a local US company) will test the equipment that meets the required standards or requirements, and the relevant equipment must provide relevant documents (such as the SDoC statement) ) Provide proof to the public. The SDoC policy simplifies previous complex FCC certification requirements and further reduces the burden on the business.
2. When is it mandatory?
From November 2, 2017 to November 2, 2018, this year is a transitional period during which the FCC VoC and DoC certification procedures can be used or the new FCC SDoC certification procedure can be used. After the one-year transition period, the FCC SDoC certification process will officially replace the original FCC VoC and DoC certification methods.
3. Impact on the company:
Overall, the FCC SDoC certification process is more streamlined and clear than the original program, and the FCC SDoC certification program allows the use of electronic tags while reducing the cumbersome import declaration requirements. The goal is to simplify the current cumbersome and complex FCC certification requirements and further reduce the burden on the business.
4. What is the impact on the laboratory:
The SDoC certification process requires a test report and is not mandatory for testing in the FCC Recognized Accredited laboratory. The previous test standard is still used. In fact, it greatly relaxed the requirements for the laboratory. For unintentional transmitting equipment, the FCC intends to permit simultaneous use of SDoC or Certification for authentication.
5. What should we do during the transition period:
1. Products that pass the FCC SDoC certification program will be able to choose to mark or not mark the FCC logo.
2. SDoC requires the addition of the Declaration of Conformity document to the documentation accompanying the device. The Declaration of Conformity shall contain the necessary information such as the name, address or contact URL of the local US supplier.
3. You can choose to continue using the FCC VoC and DoC certification procedures during the transition period.
4. The FCC VoC and DoC certification procedures performed prior to the transition period are always valid and recertification is required if the product is modified.
